Flooring
My husband has been waiting thirteen years for this day. It’s been roughly thirteen years since we moved into this house; and since that day he’s hated the carpet. So today is the day the the crew from Carpet One is coming to put in new.
The carpet we had we could never tell if it was dirty and we couldn’t get it clean or if it was bought a dingy grey. Now that weve taken it up, we still cant tell. The old carpet covered the hallway, both stairs up and down, and the lower level family room. It had it’s advantages however. Since it was nothing we cared about it was easy to raise to kids and eventually four dogs.
Last night we did the last of the prep work. The carpet is up and out. The subfloor has been fry brushed and vacuumed. In some places we had to take a chisel to it to scrape off caked on dust that had filtered through over the years. We thoroughly checked for nails and brads. And just because we got done a smidge earlier than we thought we would, we repainted all the trim.
The workers should be at the house by now. I’ll be working late. Supposedly it will only take a day to install; so by the time I get home it will be done.
My husband will be happy. And I’m looking forward to it as well I think. It’s nice to have the house feel a little bit new again.
