Day in review Friday August 28, 2015

The end of the week. I have two more instruction sessions next week. Today was unexpectedly good. The student were animated and willing to participate. It was more than I expected on a Friday afternoon immediately after lunch.

And I finally got to get some scheduling done, until the end of the semester, for the data management project that I am shepherding.

This said, I started to realize yesterday that I have the habit, probably formed from my other jobs, to do only short term planning. I need to develop the habit of long term planning. Further, I need to develop a cycle in planning. I had the conceptual idea of it in the spring, but wasn’t able to execute it. In trying to get a handle on it, I kept getting derailed by the short terms needs and the overflow of ideas and projects that I would like to do. It’s still talking time to get established.

To this end, I have done the detestable thing. I have brought all of my paperwork home. A single manilla folder sits in my bag with notes, plans, lists, goals, and who knows what else. My large objective is to get some time with SciFinder and knock out that curriculum for next Friday. But, if I can sort through some of this stuff and get it scheduled or off my plate, that would be an enormous weight lifted.

As it stands, little will get done tonight. Most will be prep for tomorrow: grocery list, and laundry. Menus and cuddling with puppies.
