Month three
This is the begining of month three. I can feel that the librarians and school is gearing up for a new year. The grounds crew has been fantastic at sprucing p the trees and shrubbery. We are a couple weeks off moving downstairs as they gut our floor for renovation. (I can’t tell you how much I have taken for granted having a restroom and water fountain on the same floor as my workspace).
I would detail how my work has changed, except that it really hasn’t. I have spent some dedicated time toward creating outreach materials in the form of flyers, handouts, and other paper based stuff. In the world of electonic communication I plan on being more in-person. I spoke to a librarian here who has been here a year and has barely gotten traction. I feel it’s because her communication has been by email. This institution is list-serve heavy, so email is not going to work.
But I have no guarantee that my approach will work either. I just have to try it and get out the door. And at the end of the month, I wil be one quarter the way through my first year. Something to think about.
But for the moment, I will spare the details. I am getting a trickle of work, and looking into the opportunities that I have for now. I just feel that I am running in circles without clear priorities. Perhaps I need to make some decisions.
